Hockey Training for Teens

Hockey training is increasingly becoming popular amongst teenagers. The adolescent years are when all players start playing at the same level, and at this point, natural talent is insufficient in order to succeed. A physical training programme is of necessity for this type of player to shine amongst their competition. Being in shape is absolutely important, but equally important is making sure the physical programme they are following is suited to their age.

Every teenager is different. Workout programmes designed for pre-teens do not do much for teenagers. Likewise, a pre-teen cannot follow a programme made for a teen, as they are not physically ready. Engaging in such a programme will only have a negative effect on their game. It is important to realize that during adolescence, changes to the body happen rapidly in a short period of time; and thus so should the type of training.

Twelve to fourteen year olds will possess the physique of a child, and a plan made for an adult is unsuitable. When they are 15 or more, then they can embark on such programmes. By this point, these training programmes will not have any damaging effects on them.
When enrolling teen players for physical training programmes for hockey, ensure that that the trainer or coach understand that they specific programme should suit the player according to their age. Also ensure that they have worked previously with younger hockey players.

Kids who succeed are the ones who are the most committed and who work the hardest. Fitness is crucial in hockey, and should be a top priority for every hockey player.
