Put Your Soccer Socks On – Fall is Here!

Posted in Sports & Recreation |

School has started and fall is on the very brink of descending upon us. With the start of school also come school sports, one of the most popular being youth league soccer. If you were never on a team as kid, here is your chance to live vicariously through your child on the playing field. If you are new to the sport, the first thing the team will require is a soccer jersey, which most schools or youth leagues with provide themselves, or give you instructions on where to purchase, if necessary.

There are, however, a few thing you will be responsible for purchasing for your child. These are normally very basic and easy to find in stores. Soccer cleats are probably the most expensive part of the entire outfit, as well as the most dangerous. You probably will want to avoid the metal spiked cleats as they will inevitable end up hurting a fellow team member. Of course a comfortable soccer short would be a necessity, as well as fitting shin pads to protect your child’s leg from the ball and other children’s flailing limbs throughout the game.

Most teams require a specific color of soccer socks, which are usually that specific team’s colors. These can normally be found in the same area as the shin pads, however, if a specific color is required, you might need to special order them either online or in the store, if allowed. If both these options are impossible, the easiest solution would be to buy plain white socks and just dye them the required color.
