The National Hockey League (NHL) All-Star Weekend is scheduled for the weekend of January 23-25, 2015 in Columbus, Ohio. This year’s All-Star game, 60th game for the NHL, will be played on January 25, 2015 at the Nationwide Arena, home for the Columbus Blue Jackets and it will be the first time an All-Star game is held at the venue. Blue Jackets Nick Foligno will captain the home team wearing home blacks while Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks captain the away team wearing whites.
Even before the All-Star Weekend start, a controversy brewing around the jersey. The Reebok designed neon outfit for the All-Star game is called “modern” and “cutting edge” by the NHL staff. They believe it is the perfect complement to the game that portrays speed, agility and power of the game. Reebok says it is state-of-the art design and capture modern appeal. Instead of wearing their everyday game uniforms, players will be like a hero coming out wearing the jersey. The shield on the jersey will give a chrome effect and comes with two stars representing league’s two conferences. Authentic team logo and the event mark on the shoulders will be new to the jersey.
